[Top 10] Best Farms in Elden Ring (2023)

The latest version of the Souls game has arrived in the world of the open-world action RPG Elden Ring. With over 70 unique bosses and a 79km map (bigger than GTA V's map), it's no wonder there are tons of incredible farming locations just waiting to be discovered. In such a vast and harsh world, it's no surprise that your gear and stats are key to your survival. So instead of running around, rage and giving up for a few days like I did, get ahead of the ball game and learn some valuable rune-farming points and sweet loot.

10. Good Farm for Lean Animal Bones

If you're going to be an archer in the Elden Ring, you're going to need a lot of thin animal bones to craft the various arrows at your disposal. There's no better place to start the early game than in the fields south of Stormville Shack. Head south from StormVille Shack toward Evergoal and you'll come across a herd of sheep. A few passes and you'll have plenty of thin animal bones to make all the arrowheads you'll need!

There are also several places where animal bones can be planted. Especially if you go into the Siofra river and other places underground. However, this is the first place in the game where animal bones are planted. Plus, it's really easy to run around hunting them on horseback, so I suggest you only run through the area a few times until you have enough free time.

9. Caravan by Waypoint Cellar Ruins

This is an early game farm, but as long as it works for you, I highly recommend it. After running outside the Waypoint Cellar Ruins, you'll see two giants pulling a caravan surrounded by a group of low-level enemies. Kill giants for 2,000 runes, and kill all weaker enemies for over 1,000 runes.
Early game this is a good flush and repeat rune farm that will get you up a few levels. Don't spend too much time farming this, as you'll find better places quickly. I'd say if you're past level 30, it's time to move from this location to another one down the list.

You'll also find more of these caravans throughout the game as you continue your journey. I'm only including the first caravan the player encounters, because future caravans are less efficient to farm. They provide important runes, but once you're able to farm them, you can farm them further down the list.

8. Impassable 大桥

Similar to War Dead Catacombs, the area features a farm that pits giant dogs against Radahn soldiers. Unlike War Dead Catacombs, the impassable Greatbridge is just a half afk farming area. This means you'll have to start over in a graceful place, and possibly finish off enemies that aren't fully killed. For low-level players, this place can definitely help you level up a bit, earning just over 4000 runes.

There are definitely better farms out there than this, but this is the original semi-afk farm you can use to get some runes quick. I recommend only farming a few levels here, as it will take a while for the soldiers to defeat all the monster dogs. In addition to the wait time, you'll most likely have to kill the enemies after they're done fighting, which could result in you dying from pesky dogs.

7. Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel (Forgestone Farm)

Raya Lucaria's Crystal Tunnels are ideal places to hit stones (1 and 2), they are very useful in the early game! On your first run, you'll find blacksmiths and grim blacksmithing stones along the walls (1-3). Additionally, miners for wizards have a chance to drop forged stones at different levels. In this tunnel, they'll probably only drop low-tier blacksmithing stones.

However, if that feels like too much work, the boss at the end of this tunnel will drop the Smithing-Stone Miner's Bell Bearing (1), which will allow you to buy Smithing Stones from two Maiden Shells during your turn (1 and 2) table. I recommend just buying bell bearings, since you can use the rune planting points from this list and buy as many smithing stones as you want.

6. Bestial Sanctum (early game farm)

Bestial Sanctum is at the end of Caelid, so it will take you a while to get there along the main path. Fortunately, by following D's questline, you can access this area earlier by teleporting directly to the Bestial Sanctum. This farm location is what I personally use to level up to level 40 within the first few hours of the game, making places like Stormveil Castle easier for me.

Since it is a late-game area, the vulgar militias scattered everywhere drop about 1000 runes each. The vulgar militia are tenacious, but luckily they're spread out widely, so you can fight them 1v1 to improve your skills, or you can use throwable weapons to take them out from a distance. I also recommend avoiding the angel statue boss, as that one will rock your world early in the game.

5. Yongning Pit

Aeonia Swamp is easy to get into early game and has a lot to farm. The runes here are very useful for early players, since most enemies are high level. What makes this place so special are the Cleanrot Knights. They drop a whole bunch of fascinating weapons and armor that you can use for the rest of your playthrough. Ever since I got their armor, I've been using their armor as my main gear throughout the game (except for the helmet, since it looks a bit funky).

The swamps of Aeonia will be a challenge if you go there early in the game. .First off, the farm location is in a rotten swamp, so you'll be constantly rotting. Fortunately, riding a horse can counteract this effect. Finally, Cleanrot Knights are no joke, so if you plan to grow them (especially early game), you'll definitely want to develop your combat skills.

4. Catacombs of the War Dead

Although I usually don't have much patience for afk farming, but this place is too good not to go. Without exaggeration, this is the best afk farm in the whole Elden Ring. War Dead Catacombs, located in the Radahn boss room, is a dungeon that constantly spawns Cleanrot Knights, Radahn Soldiers, and Radahn Knights, which keep killing each other. Once these runes are killed, they return to the player, making it a perfect afk farming spot.

The crazy thing about War Dead Catacombs is the level of enemies in it. I really missed this dungeon at first, I had to come back at level 80, I had a hard time killing enemies in this place. This means the enemy level is higher than the player who just defeated bin Laden! But the stronger the enemies, the better the runes and loot. All of these enemies also drop their items, so when you get back be sure to scour the floor for any drops that happened while you were away.

2. Mohg Lord of Blood

For this farm, you'll use your tarnished folded fingers to help other players defeat the blood lord Mohg. I would like to add that this farm will work for any boss in the game. However, I highly recommend the Mohg boss fight as it provides a lot of runes (110,000) and a lot of players love this boss, which means you'll probably end up dying a lot less fights than helping other bosses.

Of all the farming sites on this list, this is probably the fastest and easiest if you're just looking for a lot of runes. You'll also receive the Rune Bow when you beat the boss, but you won't be farming anything else.

1. Palace Approach Ledge-Road Grace (Palace Approach Ledge-Road Grace)

If you're looking for a farm where you can earn tons of runes effortlessly in a short amount of time, look no further. Currently, this farm is one of the best in the Elden Ring, and will net you more runes in less time than anywhere else on this list. To get these runes, you need to shoot the Rotting Crow enemies from the Palace Approach Ledge-Road location. The bird will then run off the ledge and load you with 11,000 runes and more with rune boosters.

This area can be accessed early in the game via Varre's questline, but even in the late game via the Consecrate's way door, the place shines as a simple stat booster. This farming location is a bit boring, but absolutely risk-free. Also, the Mercy Seat is so close to the edge of the cliff, you can probably kill the bird about once a minute. If I recall correctly, this means you'll earn over 100,000 runes in ten minutes!
