To access the Ashes of War menu, find the Whetstone Knife located inside the ruins in front of the door. This area contains a hidden basement with a chest containing a Whetstone Knife that allows you to use Ashes of War on your weapon. You can buy Ashes of War from NPCs or find them in random chests around the world. They also rarely appear as enemy-specific items. These scarabs will disappear if you don't kill them fast enough, so be sure to corner them or bring them inside before they disappear. If you miss them, the scarab will respawn when you leave the area and return after a while.
